Dr. Heidemanns-Bergweiler is one of the most renown
wine producers
in the Middle Mosel area. It is engaged exclusively in the production
of estate wines and has established a reputation for offering only the
highest quality Riesling wines.
Their ancestors, the Bergweilers
and Pruems from Wehlen, began winegrowing in the early 16th century. At
the end of the last century the estate was expanded by the grandfather,
Zacharias Bergweiler, a greatly esteemed man in the area. Today the
estate is managed by his grandson, Dr. Peter Pauly.
Located next
to the „Doctor Fountain" and near the banks of the Mosel river
lies the family home, office and old cellars of Dr.
Heidemanns-Bergweiler.
Dr. Peter Pauly and his wife Helga administer
their estate properties along with their son, Stefan. Dr. Peter Pauly
earned a degree in business management and his doctorate in
agriculture. Thus, attention to the grapes and the vines which lie in
the grey slate soil is in proper hands.
Dr.
Heidemanns-Bergweiler vineyards are planted with Riesling grapes. Being
one of the first winemakers on the Mosel to bring modern winemaking
skills to the area, all wines are fermented in temperature-controlled
stainless steel vats. The net results of these methods are fresh,
crisp, clean wines that reflect the pedigree taste of the Riesling
grape.
