Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Eiswein is a desert wine and is thus produced only in 375 ml bottles. This ice wine was harvested at minus 10 degrees Celsius (14 degrees Fahrenheit). The grapes used for this wine were picked before sunrise early in the morning in the middle of December and while it was still minus 10 degrees Celsius outdoors. The Riesling grapes were thus still naturally frozen at the time of pressing. The water was separated from the sugar and acid of the grapes and left in the press in the form of ice crystals.
Character of the wine: Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Eiswein has a clean, fresh taste, with racy, lasered overtones of candied citrus, dried apricots and smoky minerals. The finish is crisp and tangy.
Food affinities: Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Eiswein goes well with all sweet deserts and is well suited as an aperitif.
